Venus 15-12-2005

I had a try at Venus tonight, as I believe I read somewhere that it was at its greatest brilliancy on this night? Anyway, the result I got was kind of strange, so I decided to post it and get your opinions.

Most of the Venus shots posted here lately havn't looked much like this. Thus, I am thinking I did something wrong? I only got about 30-60 seconds of film because of clouds and trees.

Anyway, time for specs. I took this with my 10' dob, I used a 80mm mask over the top. I used my video camera with my home made camera bracket.

Looks ok to me. Looks to be slighty out of shape for some reason, but not overly so.

Come on guy's..any one out there going to try some 1-micron imaging of the thermal radiation on the night side- nows the time to try (see AS&T) January 2005 P.53.
