As a complete noob - I thought it would be good to introduce myself and perhaps get to know one or two of you in the process.
My real hobbies include photography... and it's something I have loved for many years.
I have a wee Redbubble site of stuff too - if you're in the area do feel free to check it out:

But as a treat (hehe) I'll post some lunar shots I have taken.
The equipment (most important of course).
An Olympus E-30 DSLR Camera.
A very cheap 1300mm Phoenix Lens (under $500).
A moon...
And surprisingly enough - no tripod!
This is handheld, quick shutter speeds to avoid blur and... me lying on a very damp winters' grass!
The photos here are directly from my redbubble site - sorry not to upload them directly:

Moon one - Above - Taken on Fathers day last year at sunrise (it's a setting moon and hence the colour). I had to force my daughter in to driving down to Bramston Beach so we could get this photo - surprisingly enough I was going for a sunrise shot, but saw the moon and couldn't resist. I did also get sunrise shots too... But that's for another day.

Moon two - Above - The new moon - just in time for the release of the movie of the same name... Except this was the real new moon!

This is my favourite - it's absolutely untouched - no colours added, no fixing or cropping, it's untouched. And fully hand held! I admit, on this size it looks awful.. But viewed large, I am happy to say, the cheap lens passes with all expectations exceeded!
The reason I am showing this is because people were labelling these manual lenses as 'terrible' or a 'joke'... But I couldn't believe my eyes when I got these photos. I admit I don't use the lens much... But it's a far better cry than these guys led on! And for the price! Unbeatable!
Well - that's my first post... off to post in the noob section now :)
