Cometary Globules are not image too frequently although many could be. Many are very small or very faint, but some are of good size/surface brightness for even wide field imaging. I have imaged 18 of them, which, I believe, is about as many as any amateur has done. Here is another, CG 11:

To see others that I have imaged go to my "Catalogs" page and look in the far right column entitled "Other". Then scroll down and click on the respective link.

You have supplied us with a real "running cometary" on these dusty fields Tom :P and have certainly built up an impressive catttledog of these piles of comsic dirt.

The stuff is everywhere, nice work

Great image. How are you finding these esoteric objects?

Greg.

Really really nice Tom - have been following your CG quests closely - great images

Greg - Use a search engine like Simbad and just search for CG1, CG2 etc - it will return co-ordinates.

I should add - I am collecting data on the dark tower in Scorpius at the moent - a fairly easy CG - I understand how difficult it it is to process this stuff just above the background levels and not overstretch . Im starting to have some luck with Pixinsight with the masking techniques but not enough to publish yet.

Masterful work Tom
