Hello all,

I have just started in Astronomy two weeks ago, and the bug hit hard and fast. When I got my Scope, I knew that the eye pieces that came with it were 'average' when the 10mm that came with the scope was the size of a stack of 7 x 20c coins and I had a hard time looking with it. After doing a bit of research, I decided to buy some Televue eyepieces. Not just one to replace the 10mm that I had, no, I went silly didn't I just. I bought 5 in the space of 2 weeks !!

List went like this -

7mm Nagler (Type 1)
10mm Radian - new
13mm Nagler - (Type 1) -MASSIVE THING !!
32mm Possol - new
40mm Possol - new.

Now I know what your thinking - a 40mm AND a 32mm - they have the same Field of view in a 1 and 1/4 inch fitting don't they ??
Only if I had just READ a few posts on here beforehand.
So if your thinking of RUSHING out to get some new quality eyepieces - take it slow - and enjoy them. Of all of these, the ones I have been using mostly are the 32mm and 10mm Radian. They are just lovely. (By the way - I don't have any dealings with Televue - I just bought their items ...)

In future, I will do a lot more asking before a lot of wallet opening.

John

What sort of scope do you have John?
Certainly some nice glass there.

Hi Rob,

Have a Nexstar C8 that I took off the mount and placed on a G8 Losmandy. Replaced star diag with Williams Optic Quartz and put on a feathertouch. Also have Meade 12 inch lightbridge on the way. I know some bag the C8, but got it at a decent price - very happy with the results so far.

Cheers,

John

There's plenty of gurus hear to suggest certain sizes/types, however you've got some quality gear together there - I think you've pretty much said it yourself you just need to take time to get to know what works best (and you enjoy) with your setup. The televue webpages have some very useful advice on what eyepieces to have/use with different scopes.

The classifieds here are a great way to sell and buy eyepieces too when you decide what you're not using (or NEED to have.....;))
