Hi All,

Imaged Saturn in fair to good conditions, had a brain fade and stuffed up my histo settings so the colour is a bit off.
The storm remains very extended in longitude, I loaded this image into WinJUPOS and measured the spread from Long 34.6 to 61.2 degrees CMIII.

Imaged Jupiter in good seeing, if I had based my decision to image on the GFS jetstream charts I would have stayed in bed. The image was very stable but maybe a little soft, however this is the highest resolution image of Jupiter I have captured for 2010.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

The extra resolution looks good, makes a big difference.

Was your histogram problem with Saturn or Jupiter? Jupiter seems to be missing some blue but I thought your post referred to Saturn.

Thanks Michael,

Yes my main problem was with Saturn but also my Jupiter has too much G & B. There was so much detail in the live feed in all 3 channels that I got a bit distracted.

Have just made a slight adjustment in CS4 but my experience is that this really needs to be nailed with the histo at capture.

That said I am pretty pleased with the resolution of this image, some very fine detail there.

Cheers
Trevor

That is a huge, detailed packed Jupiter. I can understand you getting distracted during the capture, wanting the seeing to just continue and forgetting to finish the run.

Good on ya Trevor.

ps very nice Saturn also.

Thanks Nettie, must say I am pretty pleased with it, look forward to meeting up with you and the other IIS'ers at the Astrofest.

Thanks very much Lester, I suppose all of us planetary imagers really live for those times when it all comes together.

Thanks very much Rob, the SPSP was certainly a most enjoyable event and it was great to catch up with some IIS members.

Thanks very much Bird, just had look at the forecasts and things look promising from next Wednesday on, hopefully for a weeks or so.

Thanks very much Clayton.

I look forward to catching up with you at Duckadang :) I had hoped to call in on you on my way to or from the west on my trip, but the detour was just to great:(
I enjoy your work immensely
