I've started a series of widerfield images using the fabulous reducer of the FSQ106ED.

wow, shows you can get it right when you take the time to process with care, awesome :D.
Now, ditch the ww easy stuff, and get the CDK/PME cranking, enough already with ww, cant wait :P .
Talk about packing maximum sky into an image! Very nice Greg.

Greg,
That is sensational! With one image, I now completely understand your love affair with that reducer.
Of particular note here is your brilliant framing of the object. Not only does it loosely follow the rule of thirds (something which ordinarily doesn't work for astrophotography, unless the subject is extended or has compositional elements), but you've managed to pop a bit of nebulosity (of my second favourite part of the sky), some golden Milky Way, and dust lanes.
If you rotate the image by 180 degrees, it just doesn't work.
This is one of your best images.
Well done!

I am pretty advanced with the observatory now and the pier is also arriving within the week as well as an extra counterweight and shaft extension. So pretty close now.
Thanks Michael, the reducer is one of those U-beaut optical achievements like the AP one for the AP140,155 or 160.
Thanks Marc. There are some nice subtle shades plus the dust band.
Thanks Mark, much appreciated.
Thanks! I am glad you liked it that much. This setup can make some very very deep images so I plan to hit some of the key areas hard.

Great shot Greg and I agree with H, really well composed and that's hard to do with astrophotography.

Thank you very much Ian.
Hi Allan. Yes when an object is dim it is difficult and they often are.
