IC2220 Butterfly/Toby Jug Nebula

Hi all, this nebula is 5'x5' in the constellation of Carina. I couldn't find its magnitude, but exposures of 1 minute begin to show the brighter areas. A Toby Jug is an old English drinking vessel.

This is a combination of 5 and 10 minute exposures at iso 400 with 14" LX200 at f6.3 and Astro 40D.

Thanks Martin. Yes hunting nebula in the 1'-20' size range, while I have got the 14" on the mount. I cannot go too large, as all images have to be cropped to remove the out of focus regions due to not having a flat focus point across the FOV.

Soon I will be removing the 14" to make way for the two Takahashis and then some wide field DSO imaging.

NNNNNNOOOO, wide field woozy imaging?, and you have a 14"? :mad2: :D.

If I were you, id invest in a smallish cheapish sensitive cam for PNs on the 14" and cream it (and you wouldnt have "out of focus regions"). This pics res is very good, but overall difficult with a DSLR, I hope you arnt giving up on PNs because of the DSLR?

I am hearing you Fred; but if you were me you would do things slightly different to how you do them now, because you would no longer be you, but me.

What cheapish senstive cam for PNs were you thinking of? Would my old DFK or DMK do the job?

hehe, fair enough ;) Im sure your WW pics will be excellent given you can already do the hard stuff :thumbsup:.

Im fairly ignorant about those cams unforch, but give them a go (id :D) say, before you ditch the proper gear :).

I have tweeked the data to add contrast, that IMO the first image lacked.
