Another reasonable weekend for imaging was had by members of the MAS. I gathered a few more images with the new 40D on the Sky-90. I'm rapidly becoming fond of its particular FOV. This one is of Eta Carinae, the perennial fave.

LOL! Jeez David!
Yes... I lIKE the camera already! I have to say that unmodded it's still a corker. Combined with the f/4.5 optics it rips!

Thanks so much Doug, Doug, Trevor and Paul :)
Doug - I'm finding it hard to decide whether to modify the 40D or not. I like colour, but no more than I like nebulous luminance. Hmm... maybe a second camera (5D or something) should be procured to satisfy the unmodded self, and the 40D should go off to the chop shop for an op.

Nice shot. That's one huge field. Nice colors and great balance between the starfield and the nebulosity. Just right.

Thanks Marc :)
Yep - the old star/nebulosity balance question. I personally prefer more whispy stuff to dotty, but I think that in this widefield context this ratio is OK too. Thanks for the comment!

Chris,
Excellent! So happy to see you finally get that Sky90 singing.
Still needs more tweaking?

Thanks Lester :)
Humayun - thanks also. Yes, The Sky-90 is coming along fine I think. I've yet to do some serious star testing and final collimation, but that's become secondary to simply getting out there and using it. I'm delighted to be able to use an f/4.5 scope of any kind, and in this regard I consider the Sky-90 to be my poor man's FSQ-85 for the moment. An FSQ-106 will be on my agenda for later this year, but until then at least I can go out and have some fun again.

The FSQ106 is a hard scope to beat for all-round imaging ability and flexibility. Especially the reducer which is an optical marvel.

Chris,
Nicely put together image.

Except it's a Sky 90
Anyhow, like everyone already said, the amazing FOV made me do a double take - nice one
