Hi all,

Here's an image of a very thin 30-hour-old crescent Moon taken at about 5:20 this evening. Not the thinnest Moon I've captured, but it did require binoculars to see. This image was taken from the Centenary Bridge with my Pentax K110D and 300mm telephoto.

Unfortunately the forecast for tomorrow evening's close conjunction of the Moon and Venus is not very good...:(

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks David and Liz!

It's definately not looking good for the Moon and Venus tonight - there's already 100% cloud cover and the forecast is for increasing cloud.

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice catch. Takes me a few days before I can find it after new moon.

Great work Stephen.
I spent a good while looking for this thin Crescent too last night, but did not have any luck.
There was a thin layer of cloud right across the sky where I was looking.
Glad you got one. Thx for sharing it.

Thanks Kev!

Thanks Michael. Yes, it can be hard to spot a Moon this young, but having Venus in the evening sky as a reference makes it easier.

Thanks Geoff. This one was very faint (in fact not visible with the naked eye), so a bit of thin cloud would have made it very difficult.

Cheers,
Stephen
