Hi Guys

I started a new mega project, downloaded the 1st bunch of Ha subs, and was supprised how they came out, so I thought id get some mileage out of this and post the 1st set before I completely butcher it with usual overprocessing :D.

About 8hrs of 3nm Ha, 20 min subs, no processing (yet) other than levels, decon and basic curves.

Ive had a go before with the LX200r 12", but with 10min subs. Finally I can see the diff between the Meade and RCOS, phew, now I think its money well spent :P.

Standard 2 sec mount guiding (no AO), stars are crap, but thats for later ;). Way more subs to take get colour and rid noise, but im fairly happy so far.

Haha! That's insane details! You're gonna mosaic the whole core area?

Thanks Marc. Nah, I tried a mosaic, even bought Registar for it, what a nightmare (not Registar, the subs taken over several mths) put me right off, huge hrs and just another average WW pic the likes of yourself do FAR better. Your welcome to it :P  . Ill stick to NF, im comfortable there :P.

Fred this is a great start to what should or could be a wonderful image. The detail in the pillars certainly speeks highly of the quality of the scope. Focal length on this area seems to be the key and an image with the FSQ is almost wasted on the pillars. Maybe I can get the 8" RC up and running shortly and weather permitting try my luck with it.
Enough rambling...... A nice image in the making. Can't wait to see the final result.

When you're done with (all of) your stacking, drop me a CD with the scaled 16bits TIFF at the next meeting and I'll register them all for you then you can keep going on processing.

Fred,

Wow, super. I'm not typically a fan of high contrast images, but, this has the hallmarks of a stunning final image.

I'll be happy to take your old data off you and process it!

Yeah, the Pillars look OK, finally. Nor :D can I, but ahhhhh, megadata............megadata....... mmmm.

"should be", well, we shall see . The image is slightly croped. Yes, the 8" should give a good FOV, very WW images of M16 tend not to be so good IMO.

M16 or the woefull Mosaic?. The Mosaic registered fine, it was the gradients and different backgrounds that caused havoc, completely unmanagable, ive seen much better pics since (NGC3576), its in the bin already Punk, so there  (but thanks for the offer )

You have a point there H, its a bit pushed ,pushed that curve...........just a bit too far........ under the influence mind you ;), couldnt help myself :).

No good?, wait till I get started on layer damage :D.
