:eyepop: That's a beauty! Amazing details in the dust lanes and Hii regions. You can make up the swan clearly and M8 (my fav) with M20 really pop-up. You could even have got M16 in if you framed it slightly more to the north. Your best widefield to date I reckon. Top stuff!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Framing was awkward. There's a pipe on the roof of my house that is in just the wrong position. And with the fog moving in, I couldn't wait for Sag. to rise high enough to miss it.
Looks like I may be in for a good night tonight.

Lovely image JJJ. Great resolution on a wide field. That lens seems to be producing the goods.
Well done.

You might have snagged Pluto, Nettie.
It's in the field box shown.
Your field has reached pretty deep.
Pluto is mag 14.0 according to Cartes Du Ciel.
Your original image on right.
Edit: can't quite work out why both the attachments won't
blink equal size ....they paste equal in PS! :(
Damn IIS! :)

Good on ya, that's a nice wide field.
Hi Guys,
great shots Jeanette.
Forgive my ignorance, but isn't the Tamron 90mm lens in question a macro lens? Hope this question is not too dumb, - it's just that I thought macros were only for macro work. Can someone please explain :P

That's right, it's a macro lens.
I've been known to use it in the day time as well.;)

Macro lenses in general have very flat focal plane - That means they are excellent for astro-work.
Thank you both
