I haven't had any time, weather or opportunity to get out doing astrophotography for a few months.
This week however, I've had FIVE nights in a row of CLEAR, DARK, COLD nights in the observatory!! This is just unheard of!
Seeing is spot on, upper atmosphere dynamics are stable, telescopes and cameras are purring like kittens.
I now have over 12 hours of exposure on my target (M20) and tonight going for 15 hours! I'm in heaven!

Lucky you! How nice is it when everything goes to plan like that! :party: Not sure what the consequtive clear night record in Melbourne is, but my sources tell me it might be as many as one.
Meanwhile down here on Macquarie Island... :(

Have to agree Baz, this run of clear cold nights has been fantastic and I think it will carry on for a bit longer as well.

But I'm so tired after five in a row going until after 2am...I work during the day and yesterday I actually fell asleep at my desk doing the same calculation over and over again because I kept nodding off and losing my spot.
I have now spent all night processing, it is approaching 3am and I have to work tomorrow as well.....zzzzzzzzzzzz

Don't Jinx it,
You all should be superstitious enough not to mention the fortunate weather by now. SPSP is this weekend....... :)

A while back I did 5 nights in a row, full all nighters except for the last when i came to bed aound 3 AM.
I felt super happy to be imaging but like I'd been run over by a train I was soo exhausted and sore and a real zombie cuz i never got much more than 4 or 5 hours each morning
It does feel great though to get a good run like that. Would never have been able to go to work though , I was on lave at the time.

Not sleeping for 5 nights in a row is much healthier than raging over 500 cloudy nights in a row.
another clear night coming tonight, and improving seeing through to the end of the week is predicted...

BUT I'M SOOOOOO TIRED!:zzz2::sad:
Good seeing, clear sky and no moon.
I reckon the Southern Tablelands has some of the best autumn/winter skies
Hang in there Baz
