Dont laugh I am colour blind but I can see there is some in this one. I am trying to digest photo shop pro and all that is does. I played around to bring out detail and ended up with this even to me colourful image.

Hey Alex

You are right - that is a lot of pink, but still a great shot. What camera did you use to let all that H Alpha stuff through?

Cheers

Yeah, lots of pink. What a magnificent nebula this is! I spent a fair bit of time staring at it over the w/e.

I captured this thru my little $200 auzzie 80 x 400 AR (which is really the guide scope for my wide field set up.) prime focus at iso 1600 140 seconds (approx) and using standard 300d unmodified camera. The mount is a "xelasnave tuned" eq5 mount and I lucked into a good polar alignment preparing for widefield shots, so I had a go thru the "guidescope".
Thanks all for your kind words and not being over critical of the colour. Here is one with the pink removed :) :) :)

Hi Alex, Great shot mate! Could you expand slightly on the "Xelasnave tuned" EQ5?

I used to race Moto Cross 30 years ago and developed a habit of making a standard race bike better by "blue printing" and making it as good as the design allowed. Mates used to call it "the good old alex tune up" so its sortta a personal joke there, however I have been working on this mount polishing ruff bits, removing "high" spots on the gears, best grease (lithium) and not to much of it, adding 11 kilos of weights to the mount tray to make the tripod more stable, even hanging a section of chain to ease out any vibration (although not with the current shots) that sort of thing..in an effort to make it as good as it can be. I have not as yet replaced any of the bearings, but that too will happen when I can find something better than the standard units. But dont send me work I dont intend developing a business of mount tuning.
