Very deep K1-22, over 5 hours

Hi all
In very good conditions last night I did a very deep imaging on on Planetary nebula K1-22 again. It is known as the Southern Owl nebula

31x10 mins ISO400. MPCC coma corrector , LPS filter, Hutech modded 350d. 10 inch f5.6. Hand guided, including meridian flip. I stopped imaging it when it was getting too low in the west.

Scott, you have the steadiest hands and keenest eye I've ever seen!!!. If I did that, my stars would look like a star trail!!!:):)

I'd be hitting the control buttons on the hand controller too much!!!:)

:eyepop: Hand guiding? That is dedication. Do you have a break in between subs or do you go for a couple at a time? How do you organise your time. That's some serious time at the eyepiece. Amazing. Result speak for itself. Looks bloody great. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I use a Q guider camera and watch it on the laptop, keeping the star centred on a virtual recticle. I do several hours at a time, and have digital TV in a window so I can watch TV and guide at the same time. I will occasionally grab a coffee or hot milo between subs then come back and sip it while guiding.

I deliberatly put the scope slightly off balance so the worm meshes with the plastic drive wheel, and it will track surprisingly well if theres no wind about.

I see you are a Novacastrian (sp?) like Mike - Its is a sad day here in Leyburn - Matty Johns is here painting Shane Webckes pub red and blue (well the roof anyway). Funny funny funny - a bunch of men that got home from a nightclub at about 4 climbing ladders and trying to paint. Im not a big footy show fan but I might have to watch his show on Thursday to see the whole thing.

If theers nothing on TV to watch while guiding, I will put on the walkman and listen to the radio, or sometimes not at all and just listen to the quiet sounds of night time.
