Hi All,
We've had a couple of half clear nights of late, so I'm back imaging.
I've wanted to do justice to Centaurus A for a while now, even so it could probably do with more data, but I doubt Melbourne's weather will allow.
Exposure details on the website with a larger image (so you can pick out all the flaws) http://tinyurl.com/27y355p

Ahhh yes Centaurus A, she never fails to please.....
Nice job Stuart, some nice round stars there and plenty of detail, well done.
The framing looks a little odd, did you place the burger there for a reason?
Only other thing I'd say is that (to me) Centaurus A looks best with a bright glowing central core behind the dust band and maybe you have flattened this out a bit..? :confuse3:
Otherwise a fine shot

Thanks Marc.
Thanks Michael, don't know what you mean about the framing, everything doesn't need to be smack dead centre, makes for boring composition. The rest is controlled by the acquisition of a suitable guide star.
Also didn't know what you meant by flattening the core, but I was in a bit of a hurry last night and just got CCDStack to do DPP and then saved the tiff file from that to photoshop. I worked from the raw fit file this morning with my own processing routine and I think it looks a little better, I'll whack the repro in the first post so it's easy to compare.
Nothin' like doing a Sidonio the morning after you've posted the pic!
Cheers

The new version looks really great, could still try brightening the background core just a little bit more though..?
