Hey Beren
Would that gear be suitable for a Celestron 9.25???
Does the dew zapper have adjustable temp, and how doesit work? Does it use strips? Got any pix?
Cheers

Gday Matt not sure of the outside spec size for the 9.25 OTA but the measurements for the zapper is 38" exact and the shield is just over 39" , with a little Velcro adjustment it could be made to fit . The zapper temp output isn't adjustable , runs at 20w and draws 2amps, from field experiance it will drain a 17amp powertank within 2 hrs so a decent battery is needed . It works well but i ended up with the adjustable MkVI kendrick controller {85US} with Astrozap heaters that make up a great system . To be honest Matt being in a colder area and maybe adding accessories later you might want to explore some adjustable heater controllers first, the kendrick controller i have has four outlets for heaters and costs around 85US and a Astrozap heater for a 9.25 about 55US {the astrozap heaters are nice and wide and have a firm fit to the scope tube , the orion is smaller in width and slides a little when moving the OTA around}. The orion zapper will do the job although for the future a adjustable system might be better but is rather more expensive .

Hi Matt & Beren
Pardon me for butting in here as I’m not a potential buyer. I have both the Orion 10" (Sirius Optics) and Celestron 9.25" (York Optical) dew shields.
The Orion 10" is noticeably "duller" (less shiny) on the interior so I use it exclusively on my C9.25. The Celestron C9.25 dew shield is very shiny on the inside by comparison.
The Orion 10” was too big (diameter) for my C9.25 so I modified it by slicing an approx 2” strip off one edge which included one of the velcro fastening strips. I then sliced approx 1” off the naked plastic from this detached strip, leaving just the velcro strip which appears to be sown and glued onto the base plastic dew shield material.
I then re-glued and stapled the detached velcro strip (on its plastic backing) in an overlapping manner onto the newly cut naked edge and it now fits nicely on the C9.25.
Its not as pretty looking after the mod, but does the job quite nicely. The joined area is a little stiff due to the extra layer of plastic on the overlap from my cut and glue operation.
The Orion 10” is also longer than the Celestron 9.25” i.e. it protrudes further from the corrector plate which is always good.
Cheers

You got a link for that AStrozap heater for the 9.25 for $55US???
Does it work with the Kendrick or does it come with its own variable temp unit?
