I took this image last night, total time 3 hours and 18 minutes with the 127Ed, hotech Field flattener and the canon 350D. This is the first ever time I have taken this galaxy. (66 x 3 minute stacked in DSS)

A quick lunchtime process in Pixinsight – room for improvement and experiment but I think you get the general impression

the raw stacked image and then my first hack at that

You must be feeling pretty chuffed about that Dave.
You've done a beautiful job on it.:)

Nice shot...quite a bit of detail, even with the rather wide FoV.

I think you've managed to pull the fat out of the fire there!

Well done!

That hotech field flattener works way better then any others, turns the 127ed into a high performance astrograph

Nice job Dave.
I actually love FOVs like these where it hangs there like a jewel
in 3D. Sharpness is lovely. Colours lovely....beautiful.

Good job Dave to extract that out of the original stack. The 127 is a great scope!

Thanks Al - the encouragement is welcomed;)

That I am Greg - i will reprocess it or Sidonio it to death just to see how i can improve on it

i was - and you should have heard RB when he had a play with the raw Jpeg - he liked the data

to be honest i had a bugger of a time locating it because i am pretty slack and have not really aligned or trained the scope with the Gemini to model the star locations - all i have done is sync Acrux and then hope for the best:rofl:. when i did this i couldn't see where it was relative to star positions through the viewfinder - then i took a test image - was way out and then best guess adjustment. I jagged it:lol:

Thanks Peter - its like magic - i never know what type of rabbit is in the hat

Thank you of God of Photons for your blessing. I will say 3 Haley's comets and reprocess until its right;)

That's a superb image Dave - great detail and colour in the galaxy, and the foreground stars seem to give the whole image a 3-D feel to it!

Hi David,

Thats a particularly nice effort. You seem to be onto a winner with the refractor.

Hope to see you at SPSP

Cheers

Impressed with the Hotech David. That has convinced me to go down that road also. Your M83 is very crisp and clear with good colour definition and most of all ROUND STARS!!!!!!

Damb it Dave, thats very smick (tracking, focus..........everything) :D. On zooming, its as tight as, your getting the kind of detail there reserved for proper cams :P.

The colour balance in the Sid is spot on too.

Come up pretty well David. More focal length required for these small galaxies but you have done a nice job on this one.

Well Done.

Missed this one. What a ballsy effort to get out and go for it in the full moon from the 'burbs David, and you and PI have pulled the processing off very nicely!

I like the 2nd repro best for "natural" colour and detail (colour pretty always comes down to taste anyway).

Great for newcomers to be able to see just how far you can go with raw data collected from a city site too by posting the stacked master.
