Last night this little guy flew in and landed on the dome
monitor. At first I thought it was a moth but it has a long
nose on it and looks like an anteater :)
I tried to get some closeups of it before it flew away.
He was quite placid and with some nudging I could get shots
from both sides of him.

Does anyone know what this is? Some sort of sap sucker or cicada?
Or simply a moth....?
Strange that something like this would be airborne at night, even though
there was still a 3/4 moon.

I always get my treehoppers, leafhoppers, and planthoppers all mixed up, but I'm pretty sure it's one of those. If I had to pick one, I'd say planthopper. Have a look at some of the images on bugguide.net

Ah, should have know it was a Rhynchomitra microrhina!!
A planthopper - never heard of them, ... well there you go.
