Hi

I found an excellent Mars simulator by Mr T. Ikemura of Japan at http://www.kk-system.co.jp/Alpo/MS2005/MSmenu.htm and spent an enjoyable hour trying to identify features from a Mars image I captured on 9th Dec at 9:15am AEST.

I managed to track down some key features and have labeled them on the image generated by Mr T. Ikemura’s simulator.

Cheers

Dennis

PS – in case there is any doubt, my Mars is the fuzzy blob on the left!

Hi Dennis - great simulator and not a bad shot of Mars there either. :)

Have a check again of the identification you have for Mare Sirenum as I pretty sure that's actually further around the planet (toward the extreme right on you image or even beyind the limb). The dark extension you've got tagged there is Sinus Sabeus with the very end bit called Sinus Meridani (which I believe is where one of those Mars crawly things is right now).

cheers,

Thanks for the comments and correction Rob. It was fun trying to hunt down the various features.
