Hi all
using the window between astronomical twilight and moonrise I got 90 mins centred on galaxy NGC 3309, with the 10 inch scope.

9x10 mins ISO 200. Totally unfiltered so near IR as well as visible light recorded. VERY good seeing (would be good for the planetary imagers).

Ive included a Star Atlas pro screenshot of the approximate area

Hand off axis guided as usual.

The xtra infra red light might be behind the internal reflections from the MPCC coma corrector lenses next to the bright stars.

This area is BEGGING for Strongmanmike to catch with his big chip camera :)

I guess a mag 5 star in with a bunch of mag 13-14 galaxies isn't going to make life easy even without interference from the moon.

Can even make out some detail on the lined up galaxies NGC3314a/b, nice one.

Thanks
Yep it makes it easy to compose bue the bright stars do play havoc with deep exposures. The good seeing helped bring out the detail in the smaller galaxies too.

Wow, great catch. And I thought only the northern hemisphere guys had all the good galaxy clusters. It seems like we have heaps.

Very cool shot. So many galaxies and very well processed. When I saw those halos even before reading the post I just knew you were using a Baader MPCC. Those internal reflections are just non sense. I wish they improved their coating or did something about it.
