Colour moon

Here's a shot of the moon with colour saturation enhanced to bring out the subtle colours of the minerals.
3 x ISO 200 shots, 10 inch F5.6 scope with Baader MPCC, taken last night. Photoshop used to bring out the colours by increasing saturation.

I willmake an extra effort when better and drag mr Scott "Tornado" I can find the faint objects" Alder along to share my EQ6 and the autoguider. His effort shown here should be heaps better ;)

The orange colours represent metal-poor basalt.

The purple and blue colours represent metal-rich basalt, the difference between the two being that the blue has >7% titanium, whereas the purple is >3%. In each case, iron is >15%. (percentages by weight)

Looking at Scott's image, the big blue area is the Sea of Tranquility.

Thanks all, glad to share it. I was setting up the scope ready for the following mornings planetary nebula catching, when I noted the moon was nice and high so thought Id try for it, sky was nice and clear and seeing good :), it was awful the night before.
Yep Id love to get under a really dark sky again, though Im booked in for the carols by candlelight at Speers Pt next saturday night, but Lostock awaits.

I did that when processing one of my Moon shots and thought it would be picked on if I posted it, expecting "Turn your saturation down!". I thought it was just false colour when I did it.

Minerals huh? Cool. I shall look into it a bit more seriously!
