Had another reasonable night here in Brissie last night so decided to try the QHY8 on my ED80. Each of these images is 20x5mins albeit under a nearly full moon! I'm starting to see a pattern emerging with the green cast.

Comments welcome.

Looking real good Peter. Just need a flattener (http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=13321&kw=AFR-IV&st=2)now. Green casts? Try this one (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=585489&postcount=13). Works a treat on those nasty green gradients. :)

Thanks Marc. I gave HLVG a try but found it made the image a bit too magenta so tried to colour balance manually (and failed!). I think the flattener is going to have to wait a while however I might give the paracorr a try in the ed80 when the T adaptor arrives.

Lovely results Peter.
Did you try auto background adjust in Neb?

Thanks Steve - I've been stacking using DSS and then straight into PS so haven't tried Neb processing yet. I'll have to check it out.

Great shots Peter,

I wished I'd gone out last night - tonight is horrible - but I had to get up early this morning for work...

Good stuff mate! I won't say anything about longer subs or the green ;)

nice shots given the moon is up. as for your green tinge a certain imfamous astrophotographer whom i met at queensland astrofest instructed me on how to balance the image using the histogram, by aligning the white side of the colour curve with each channel at the bottom part of the curve. I have been using that method for all of my processing since.

Mind you though i have no idea what i am doing:rofl:

I think that's what Auto BG adjust in Nebulosity does, Hoff,
I may be wrong though.

I like the image and I don't see any green.

Nice images Peter, The PS plugin Marc has posted works a treat.

Keep at it.

Thanks all for the feedback, processing tips and other advice. This exercise has taught me a lot about the advantages of a cooled camera and also a bit about colour balance.

Looks like the weather is on the improve up here so hopefully more to come.
