Laser collimation help needed

Hi All,
just got Howie Glatter laser collimator with grid inlet, but cannot find any pictures and info how far has to be placed telescope (Nexstar 8 SCT GT GPS) from the projection surface.
Any suggestions?

I'd say far enough so you get a good projection scale to see the secondary shade and the grid clipping on the outer circle. Couple of metres?
