Hi,
I shot some "traditional" images whilst doing 360 spherical panoramas (see my earlier thread (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=60032)) at Phillip Island and this one is my favourite. The Magellanic Clouds turned out nicely above the Pyramid Rock and a meteor added to the scene.
There are a few very nice spots at Phillip Island but unfortunately because of light domes from Melbourne, Mornington and Cowes limit the choice to southern objects. Anyway it was a very enjoyable weekend with great weather both day and night.
Cheers,
Alex

Nice again! Are these tracked images or on a tripod?
Exposures etc?

Thanks Mike!
I don't know how to track so I have to squeeze all I can from a fixed tripod. Good high ISO in D700 and large front element in 14-24mm f/2.8 lens help.
This one was done at 14mm, 30 sec @ ISO 3200. For panoramas I use 15 seconds to minimise sky shift when stitching.

Love it, love it, love it. Very nice image. The general scene is lovely then add a great sky, a meteor and a couple of small nebulas and you have one hell of an image.
Well done.

You have to be joking.
I just changed my desktop half an hour ago to Peter Wards Omega shot and now I will have to change it again, if I may save it, if it's ok with you Alex?
That's not an image, it is fine artwork, should be on public display. Just knocked me over.
