This is a device to plug into the AUX port of the LX-90 series of scopes to allow you to plug an ST-4 compatible autoguider directly into the scope, rather than via ASCOM through your computer. It also has sockets to connect a motorised focuser and illuminated reticle.
It is a clone of the Meade 909APM (as produced by Gene Chimahusky at http://www.astrogene1000.com/products/as_909/as_909_clone.htm). Meade no longer make their 909APM. As far as I know these are the only pre-built ones available.
Please read Gene's site before purchasing - he says it won't work with the new 497 Autostars running with 5XXX firmware.
I had to patch my LX-90 with an update (43gg) to get it to work. This update was rewritten by AndrewJ to overcome a problem with slow finalisation of the slew due to an issue with "motor cards" in my scope. I will include a CD with the software required to update the Autostar and the patches, plus the setting I used.
I have successfully used this with an Orion StarShoot Autoguider and PHD guiding with my Meade LX-90ACF. I do not have a suitable focuser or reticle, so cannot comment if these functions work or not.
Gene sells these for USD$69, plus shipping of USD$10. (~AUD$87)
A friend made up a shorter cable to connect the device to the AUX port on the LX-90, rather than the included coiled cable.
I'm selling this for $70 including postage.
I'm happy to take enquiries via PM.
