SOLD (err kept): University Optics 7mm HD Orthoscopic

For sale is an effectively new 7mm focal length University Optics HD Orthoscopic eyepiece.

$95 + postage, or $100 including postage

I find this eyepiece has just a tad too little eye relief for my liking, so I am usually willing to sacrifice the high contrast of the 7mm UO HD ortho for the eye relief of a barlowed 12mm UO HD orhto (or 15mm TV Plossl). But a lot of people seem to find the eye relief of the 7mm UO HD ortho ample, so, like many other things about the best eyepieces, this comes down to personal preference.

Edit: I am no longer willing to swap this eyepiece for an 18mm UO HD orthoscopic. But I am willing to swap for 12mm HD (postage both ways at my expense) or 9mm HD (postage at your expense) in as-new condition.

I'm planning on buying the 5mm and 7mm UO HD orthos, but I can't afford it until the new year.

If you haven't sold it by then i'll most likely grab it, but i'm sure you'll have no problems offloading it at that price ($20 off new).

Make that $30 off what I paid for it from Frontier Optics. But maybe I got ripped off. :shrug: They quoted me $125 each, and for three HD orthos I paid $379 with postage to Melbourne (and then a few days later Rob offered me four of them for my Nagler which I sold for around the same amount :()

I have edited the thread starter post and included several photos of the EP for sale. Also indicated change of mind about the swap for 18mm UO HD. But I will swap for 12mm or 9mm HD (with preference for 12mm).

I will give this sale till the end of the working week, then I'll pull the plug.

I was out of town observing last night, but as I normally do with things for sale (I pack them up and leave them alone) so I did with the 7mm Ortho. I missed it terribly. So maybe this is not one EP I should be selling. But to be fair to those thinking about buying, I'll give this sale till Friday the 16th.

I've got a better idea. I'll buy it myself. :P I'm just too curious to see how it compares with my other EPs, and how it would go in my new 2" Barlow.

Yeah I was but thought I shouldn't keep offering an amount after the sale has finished...thats just bad taste.
