Hi all, been waiting for the clouds to part and finally got a chance so here is 10x12 mins stacked in Images Plus and processed in PS.
Taken with the 500D through the ED80 with a UHC-S filter.

Great shot Daniel,
Would you consider a slight boost of the saturation?
That would make the colors come out a touch more
top shot with pinprick stars and great FOV and framing

I love this time of the year. This trickle of images from our winter sky will soon become a flood. I hope to contribute to the deluge in a month or so.
Thanks for posting.

Daniel, lots of data for sure, hope you dont mind, I had a quick go at bringing out the saturation a bit. I learnt a new trick from Doug..

Daniel that is absolutely superb, just the way it should be.
Congratulations on a great image.

Sorry Exfso (peter) the repro looks like the chicken vindaloo I just had, same colour (and yes that maybe just my monitor), overcooked and barely edible.
I am not so sure that repros should be presented before the original poster has been consulted.
Not being nasty, just my opinion.

Nice image Daniel. For me the colour could be enriched/darkened a little but all in all it is a nice image from good data.

Peter, Don't blame me for that effort. Pleeeeeeeease.

Nice one Daniel.
A tiny bit more saturation (not the Peter one :P ) and it will look splendid.

A difficult image to lift the saturation on due to the fact you used a UHC filter. The UHC while passing RGB also transmits a lot of the Ha and OIII both of which are common place in these nebulas.
It is a bit like managing the blend of RGB and the two NB filters all at the same time.

Very nice but best left alone and as is, you have done a great job without killing it.

:rofl:Ahhhh.. most repros by others make me laugh, rarely are they better and usually much worse

Dan the man that is a nice taste of the images to come, great to be able to fit both beauties in, well done mate!

Mike

Thanks Duncan.

Thanks Trevor, Marc and Troy.:);)

Thanks Spearo I may trygive a little more saturation.;)

Thanks JJJ, yeah With the winter targets on there way I thought i'd try and get in early.;)

Thank you Jeff and Greg.:)

That's O.K Pete I don't mind.;)

Thank you very much Peter.;)

Thanks Martin and Doug,;) Doug your right about the filter, I did feel that the neb was a little soft but got to a stage where any more seemed to burn it out a little so I have left it like that for now and may give it a careful tweak later. :)

Thanks Mike, Positive coments from you mean alot.

Daniel I think your color saturation is fine. Colors are spot on IMHO. If you find it a bit soft here's something you can do that works very well in most cases and that I use all the time.

Duplicate the whole layer and apply a highpass filter. For your image 2px will do the fine details, 5px and over the overall arches in the nebulae.
You can do this in stages. Blend the new layer as soflight or overlay if you want to be really aggressive, then tweak the opacity. Then you can make a black mask on the layer and paint white in it so everything you paint on the picture is enhanced while the rest of the picture is untouched. Working this way you can enhance the core, all the bok globules, the center of M20, the Ha fronts in M8, etc... whatever you want to tweak without affecting the overall starfield look or other areas of the shot you're happy with.
