"Stairway to Heaven" or "Kashmir"?

Kashmir is awesome.

Stairway gets my vote Nettie. I love the bottled version of Kashmir, but always thought that it didn't translate well to a live stage - it was too "empty" in the middle. LOL! Starway, however, rolls through complete juxtapositions in mood and tempo, but comes together as a whole. It's an utter classic and always will be. They're both brill.

Big Zep fan here. Robert Plant's brother inlaw was my teacher at school.
I remember him saying his bro inlaw is in a band in England called Led Zepplin.

I'm, musically challenged so I don't know about mood and tempo, but "Stairway" brings back great memories of a mutual grope with Cathy McAllister at our Grade 10 dance :), but "Kashmir" is a cooler piece.
Once stole my parents car to see Led-Zep in Seattle, 1977 I think, got in a hell of a lot of trouble but the concert was waaaay worth it!.

I'm a big Zep fan but there are too many equal favs for me to choose but a few would be Dazed and confused, Song remains the same, Babe I'm gonna leave you, The crunge, Good times bad times, Houses of the holy.......but if it was out of Kashmir and Stairway it would be Kashmir only because i've heard Stairway so many times.
Love em all.

Oh man, where do you start......

Ramble On, Travelling Riverside Blues, Hey Hey what can I do, Whole Lotta Love....

Hmmm Stairway vs Kashmir....can't pick it.

I like them both a lot but would lean towards "Stairway" because of the memories of school dances and a lot of "firsts" in the back of a 1972 Chevy Impala...

On a fun note, if you are not familiar with these guys "Dread Zeppelin" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dread_Zeppelin

Not to be a philistine but Zepp + reggae+ Elvis is hard to beat in my book.

Tough one! Maybe Kashmir just because I don't hear it as often. Love 'em both though... (along with The Lemon Song, Boogie with Stu, The Rover, Bron y Aur, Moby Dick, oh, I give up... too many favs!:P:lol:

'Stairway to Heaven' is a beautiful song, and one of my favs of all time, 'Kashmir' never rated a mention, tho am listening to it now.
Stairway also has wful memories for me in my teenage years with boys playing it to me, on their guitars. Very sweet memories. ;)

I really like some of the slow bluesy numbers like The Lemon Song and Since I've been Lovin' You. And then there is the mighty When the Levee Breaks!! Of the two mentioned how about Kashmir off the Plant and Page Unledded album?? Monsterous.

I absolutely love Black Mountain Side too.
The Rain Song
Over the Hills and Far Away
Your Time is Gonna Come
Thank You
What is and What Should Never Be
Bron-y-Aur Stomp
Going to California
Trampled Underfoot
In My Time of Dying
In The Light (I'm caning this one atm)
Down by the Seaside

You know, I have so many favourites, it's easier to list the songs I'm NOT fond of.

"Kashmir", and then "Immigrant Song" :P

Coincidentally, reading this (http://www.amazon.com/When-Giants-Walked-Earth-Biography/dp/0312590008/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271725657&sr=1-1) at the moment. Good read.

EDIT: Oh god, and "Dazed and Confused"! And "The Battle of Evermore" and Stairway and "D'yer Ma'ker"... there's just so much good stuff there. Also, Dread Zeppelin rock. Used to love their rendition of Stairway on The Money or the Gun.

Yes, a good insight into the band and individual members. Dwells too much on Jimmy's interest in the occult I thought.

Can't really pick between Kashmir & Stairway, both are great songs.

No quarter has to be ranked as one of my alltime favourites as well.

An all time great band.
Back in the mid 60's, pre-Zepplin days, Robert Plant used to hang out in my local coffee shop, the Casa Bamboo in West Bromwich, wearing a leather waistcoat which he wore inside out because the previous owner had inked a "Kinks" logo on the back!
There's a bit of trivia!!
I don't recall meeting any of the other Zepplin's-to-be.

No other song stops everyone in their tracks and drop what they're doing like Stairway.

Pfttt.
John Bonham's best performance ever on the drums was at the Albert Hall, 1970.
Here's a small excerpt. He was only 21 at the time.:eyepop:

Just watched the making of Physical Graffiti DVD - one of the gifts when I renewed my membership to PBSFM, community radio. Enjoyed. Not much from the group itself, but very interesting still.
