Hi all,

having just finished my 17.5" rebuild, last night's dew pointed to the need for heating of the various components. Can someone post a link to a good site from where a novice in this department can start from?

I've seen discussions on the power these things can chew, and the need for quality power sources, but were do I start with with the heating elements and fitting them. I don't even know what they look like, :face:!

Cheers in advance,

Mental.

It was a shocker last night wasn't it - my equipment was dripping.

Thanks Louwai, for the links.

I've now seen a few controllers are available. Some manufactures offer complete controller and heating strap systems, others just the controller and leave it upto you to either source your own strap or make your own.

Which are the more reliable systems out there? I'm looking at something like no less than using six, maybe upto 8 straps for my truss dob and the stuff hanging of it.

Anyone made their own heating straps? I'm game. What might the pitfalls be? What should I keep an eye out for?

If making my own, it will be my first real foray into electronics.

Cheers,

mental.
