NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I am dead against DLS and if it comes in SEQ they will try to bring it up here where we don't need it

I think that with all the imports to the Gold Coast from NSW and Victoria, the proponents think they will swing the referendum their way:shrug:
They forget that the state is not just made up of the Gold Coast and Brisbane:rolleyes:

I really don't see what is wrong with having DLS in SEQ in line with other states?

Maybe it's because I'm one of those "imports" and have experienced life outside of the box that is Queensland? I'm not the only one who thinks this, but in the 7 years I've lived here, not a day goes by that I'm baffled by a debate up here about introducing a new thing in QLD, and I turn to my partner and say, "What???!!? They don't have/do that here already???"

And all this time when I was growing up in Adelaide, I thought it was backwards and behind the other states. How wrong was I.

That reminds me, I need to go renew my library card, sorry I mean drivers license. Easy to confuse the two.

Pollies think in terms of the bulk of voters. Qld might not be just SEQ, but that's where the votes are. With Joh's gerrymander gone the votes in the rest of the state don't matter much to them.

Daylight savings is awesome because at the end of it when the clocks are switched back 1 hour, you get either :

1. An extra hour sleep if it's cloudy
2. An extra hour observing if it's clear.
3. An extra hour of weekend if its clear or cloudy.

If they do it, they'll be S O R R Y!!

I loathe, hate and detest DST. I grew up on a farm and it meant getting up in the pitch black to feed stock and going to bed in daylight, as we hit the sack early on the farm. These days it means getting up at 3am if I want to get good sunrise photos, and staying up real late if I want to shoot a sunset.

And I firmly believe it contributes to excessive use of power because, in relative terms, it moves the hottest part of the day closer to when people are home after work and they run their individual home air conditioners for a longer period than would be the case. For example, if you leave work at 5pm in DST, it is really 4pm, so when you get home it is still pretty hot so on goes the air con, and it usually then stays on. If you got home an hour later, you just might open some windows and see if there is a cool breeze.

I am also always tired for the whole time, it throws my body clock all awry. I read a medical study that provided examples that seem to point tot he fact it is not good for us health wise to fool around with our body clocks like this.

It should be banned!
