I have an Orion Starshoot Pro Deep Space Color Imaging camera.

I have had it on my Telesope in a fixed observatory for about a year, with no problems whatsoever. It never goes anywhere so it's never had a knock in it's life.

A few weeks ago, I took it off to use the eyepiece for a change. I capped it and sat it on the bench in the observatory on some felt for safe keeping.

Tonight is the most perfect clear cold night in Canberra you wouldn't believe!

Now the camera is back on the scope but will not power on. There is one cord for power and one cord (USB) for the PC. There are no buttons, dials, switches or any other form of control on the camera except these two jacks.

Don't know what to do...stumped.

Found the problem. I used the jack and cig lighter cable from my EQ6 mount, as it is the same as the one that powers my Starshoot.

It worked, so I pulled the cig ligheter end apart on the one that doesn't.

I wonder how many people know there is a STINKIN BL%$##Y FUSE in the thing!!!???

It's blown. It's tiny. It doesn't look like one I can pick up at Woolies tonight either.

Be calm Baz...be calm...

What rating is the fuse? You can always pull the fuse apart and measure the wire diameter with a dial vernier and strip a few different bit's of wire to find a matching strand and use a length of this to form a temporary fuse.

Cig lighter fuses are usually 10A. A piece of household lighting fuse wire will do.

On the other hand, what were 8G nails invented for? Cutting into unblowable fuses. Another amateur electrician goes up in flames.

Hey Andrew, i have seen that done mate and it burnt out the entire wiring loom in an older car.

Some twit soldered a heavey gague wire across the two ends of the fuse, so it wouldnt blow at all, so it cooked the wiring instead, not good.

I took the fuse out of my wife's Navman. If I blow it I have promised to get spares at Jaycar tomorrow. 11:06PM and still haven't even selected a target.... what a waste.

I had exactly the same problem with my LX200R - took me a while to figure it out. All these lighter type jacks seem to have a fuse though
