Realised this should be the correct forum instead of Solar System.
Thanks to an ASWA imager advising me a program for star trails found the earlier image taken is now better. till a bit of noise but now i can take shorter shutter times to get good images.
EDIT - Place the wrong image in thi post, thi one is actually from ASWA Deep Sky at Bakers Hill not Bussellton.

They're nice Malcolm. Could probably use a bit of noise reduction to clean it up a bit.
But they're fine star trails!

Thanks Mike, I realise there is a lot of noise, for me this is the first 2 that I have ever done and really like to experiement in exposures and ISO setting. I expect to do some more to find out the best setting. I never used dark frame though, I may see if I can create some in the near future and apply them.
I have already used EOS utility noise reduction to the max so camera setting on initial shooting are important
Thanks for the info.

I do have to say that with star trails a fast F ratio lense helps the image to no end! allowing more signal and less noise!

Thanks so much, I haven't used SLR camera for a long time, noticed the F stop was set to F10. After checking it out found a significant increase in exposure once I figured out how to change it.:P
Valuable information.
