Hi all, today I downloaded Cartes de Ciel and in the Trapezium it shows 11 stars. I am just wondering if anyone has seen more than 6 and what equipment was used.

My best effort (imaging) (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=25156) only managed to record 10 of them…

Hi Brian & All,
I've seen A-F with 8, 10, 12 & 18" Newtonians. In good conditions they are pretty easy.
All the others are very difficult to glimpse even in very large telescopes due to the glare from A-D plus the bright surface-brightness background of the nebula.
In the last year or so (never thought to try before), I suspect I've seen G & H1 at threshold a couple of times (x317) in the 18". They were so difficult to observe and I can't be absolutely convinced 100% that I was certain -- just the odd detection over several minutes at the right spot(s) but cannot honestly, completely discount wishful thinking (averted imagination).
Best,
Les D

Hi, imaging or at least 18" for more than 6. Looks like it will get expensive to get greedy.

Never seen more than six (easy in 8" and 12"), only seen six once in 4".
