Shuttle 'Discovery' is counting down for launch later today (about 5 hours after the time of this post):

NASA TV (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html)

Latest shuttle news page (auto-updating) (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html)

Countdown clock (http://countdown.ksc.nasa.gov/shuttle/countdown/cdt/) (good luck following it, with all the scheduled holds along the way!)

Michael,

Thanks for the heads up -- I knew one was imminent.

Forget NASA TV, use SpaceVidCast (http://www.spacevidcast.com) for high definition live streaming. The NASA TV site is delayed by two minutes (or so).

+1 for spacevidcast, a much better service for watching the launches.

The HD broadcast is awesome compared to NASA TV!!
Just remember that it eats megabites like smarties. The last launch I watched cost me many $$ in overusage fees. (thanks to big pond scum:mad2:)

Get a Liberty Plan. You pay a set amount and if you go over your limit, your speed just slows down.

I know! I have 2 Liberty Plans. USB Next-G 1Gb Plan (slowed until 11/04/2010), and a Wireless Gateway Next-G 6Gb Plan.

Spacevidcast wasn't working for me.

I was having problems with NASA TV, as well, but, it just kicked in exactly at launch.

It's a beautiful thing....the camera angles are getting fantastic.
It's a pity it is all coming to an end.
The MECO call and main tank separation still stir me up. It's the kid in me.

NICE I liked when they showed the ISS pass before the launch

Watching that just shows how those UFO buffs make the object dance about the sky:rolleyes:
It was the best one I have ever watched:)
as I have always had problems with receiving a decent picture, due to low reception:sadeyes:

That was soooo good!

First time I've seen it like that. Last launch I had to be somewhere just before liftoff:sadeyes:.

This modern age of computers is good for a few things.

Thanks for the alert.:D

By the way.
Did anyone else have a problem with the audio echoing?
Was a bit hard to follow what they were saying.

Errrr? What are they going to do - just sightseeing? I guess headed for the ISS.

That was the worst launch I've seen!:mad2: I had 4 Tabs open in Google Chrome from NASA. The picture kept buffering so I was missing some of the picture and audio. With about 2 minutes to go I switched over to Firefox and not much better. I had some audio but the picture was not much better. I even configured my email program so it would not check for new email.

Even now, the picture is frozen.:mad2: Must be a busy time on the internet. I hope the next launch is late when most people are in bed.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed the launch.

Yes, i had trouble a couple of times, but mostly OK - they were saying that the servers were VERY overloaded.
