We've missed a few of these because of weather etc..

This weekend might be ok..

Anyone up for some lunar observing followed by some dark skies once the moon sets?

Last night was disappointing at first when we arrived at Kulnura.
Clouded over and didn't manage to get much viewing in apart from the odd glimps of the moon.

Mike and Rod then decided to call it a night and left.

Thats' when all our luck changed.
Louie, gazz and I tracked the ISS through a sucker hole for about 25 sec managing to capture the avi of the sun reflecting off one of it's solar panels.

If you look closely you can see the pattern of the panels and it's also blurry from the rapid movement of the IIS.

Well that's the best we could pull off last night, the rest of the night we were observing the cloud nebula.

:)

Till next time.

shame about the weather, but was good fun and good company nonetheless.

its amazing how much the ISS looks like the sun now with the new modifications they made :P

RB
12-12-2005, 01:56 PM
Yeah ving, it was such a lucky shot to take.
Can you imagine, the clouds parted, we saw the ISS, tracked it with the scope, grabbed an avi of the sun reflecting off the panels then processing the avi and getting this stunning image of the sun including the sunspot at night.
WOW.

Well we had nothing else to do while waiting all night for the clouds to dissipate.
:ashamed: :innocent: :P :scared3:

Hi there everyone, :)

My names Mike and have been looking around for the past week or two after getting a link from "Astroman". Im looking to get a Dob early next year but for the time being quite happy to read all I can. Iceman I notice you live on the Central Coast, my Parents live in Gosford also and Im going up there for 2 weeks starting this Thursday and would love to attend one of your get togethers if one is planned in that time. Hope to see you all around here from time to time and clear skies to all. ;)
