Dissapointed my 'Where are you all?' thread was locked as I don't believe it broke any TOS regarding my questions on just how many members are really registered here...so please accept this apology.

Apology accepted. Number of members registered - as at now - 7,355. Thank goodness they all don't try to log on at once!

My experience (which seems to be the same as others) is that most questions do get answered promptly - sometimes too many different answers! Also the buy/sell/trade works promptly in most cases.

Give us a go, Rich - ask your astro questions; post your images, your observing report, your DIY project!

(mention Pink Floyd and you are sure to get a response! :D )

Don't take it to heart mate, it was a fair question, see now you have two responses, hang in there.

Pink?? Huh? Oh Pink Floyd???????
As on many forums, there is normally a core group in every category that makes post's and or responds to post's.
It is like this: Me for example, Deep space is where i hang out the most and then my interest dwindles very fast till it gets to website feedback :P

Hi mate, welcome to IIS.

I personally didn't see any ill intent in your locked thread, and technically speaking there is more trolling occurring in this thread than the locked one.

Likewise, welcome to the forum, don't let this stop you from contributing. Sometimes what you intend as harmless can be interpretted a number of ways, we're all human :)
When an entire thread is deleted rather than locked, that's the test of your mettle - suck it up, learn and don't let it bug you :)

I will break ranks here and say that I think his post is frivolous:rolleyes:
For a start he does not say what continent he is from:question:
His point that there was no one from the US or anywhere else on at three :clock in the morning is nonsense, the fact that Cloudy nights has 30,000 still does not guarantee you a prompt reply, the USA has a population of over 300 000 people to cater for with Europe around the same number.
Why would they come onto a southern Hemisphere site when they would know that the population is mainly asleep.
He could have come on with a question of an Astronomical nature and put his observations in the post, instead of what I consider a post denigrating the site.
Other people have mentioned that most posts get answered fairly quickly, but you will not have someone sitting up all night like a call center just to answer your questions promptly.
Just my $2:00 worth:thumbsup:

Hi
The title of this section of the forum is "General chat". To a great number of internet users this means that there will be people on line waiting to talk to someone.

I gather "shadow" was looking for someone to "chat" to on line and as there was no one around at 2:00 AM he was a bit disappointed. He may not even have a direct interest in astronomy but no one will hold that against him.

However if anyone was on line at the time I am sure there would have been a response

Maybe the thread is mistitled and should be "General Topics" or similar

another $2:00 worth
