Guys and Gals,

An update about the IIS Red Light Pens:

The supplier had an issue with my order, it just disappeared into the world wide web thingy.

But after sitting on hold for 45 minutes, all is good again and apparently my order was shipped on Friday, which means I should receive it today or tomorrow.

I'll be mailing them out to those that have ordered by the end of the week.

It's not too late to get your order in. See this post for ordering details (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=55894&postcount=31) and this post (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=54850&postcount=1) for what they will look like. They'll have "IceInSpace" engraved on them.

Thanks

Hi guys.

The Red Light Pens have finally arrived! Just in time for xmas.

I'll be going to the post office today to find something suitable to post them in, and will send them off on Monday.

Here's a few pics of what they look like - one with the light off and one with it on! The black thing is a pouch for the pen :)

The pens are in the mail!

Depending on xmas traffic in the mail, with any luck they should arrive in the next day or three.

Thanks Mike, got mine today..

Its got two modes Click on(pen and light mode).. click off .. click off (pen mode) .. click on(pen and light mode) .. click off .. click Off (pen mode)..

I think this is so you can use the pen without the light on.

Its way cool though brighter than i thought it would be.

D'oh, funny how the mind works sometimes. I noticed this and assumed mine had a dodgy clicker, never thought about using it without the light on :mad2:

Could have been influenced with another pen Ive got that doesnt give you that choice. Nothin but the best for IIS members.

I got my pens this morning too. Intact thankfully (comiserations 1ponders).

They are very nice indeed. They look great and work really well.

Being the inquisitive type that I am, the first thing I did was to pull one apart. The batteries and the ink reservior are all in one unit. The ink reservior is very small though.

Next question: Will there be ink/battery replacement cartridges available?

Cheers

ah bugger Paul. I'll bring you one at Lostock.

From my understanding, yes there will be. Though I have no details about it at this stage.

Recieved all (3) of mine today, all working mechanically, but one was low on power, maybe it got switched on while in transit or something, the other two were working fine.

THanks Mike!

Got mine, the envelope was broken open but the pen was intact. Now all I've got to do is work out how to stop it disappearing in to the household Biro vortex....:D

Tony should have said they cost $20 each that way you could put away 30 into a slush fund for your next astronomy purchase.

Mike,

Is this your handwriting?

I got this envelope in the mail as you see it in the photo. It's had me stumped who its from. Tell me its not the Red Light Pen...

Sorry Mike et al, I don't seem to be able to attach the photo of the envelope. It's a postage paid envelope, my name and address on the front in blue biro in capitals, in handwriting I don't recognise. No other distinguishing markings except a couple of black "N"s on it which I guess would be put on by posties a various stages...

What photo?

If it was a prepaid envelope it was probably the red light pen. Was it not there?

I'll save one for you at Lostock.

Yeah, bugger. Sorry about that Mike. I was editting my previous post while you have replied... still can't get the attachment thingo to work.

I'll give it another whirl on this one. Nup still no go...

Sounds like it.

Make sure your image is < 100k, 800x600 or so in JPEG format, and click "Manage Attachments" and browse to your file.

Make sure you click "Go Advanced" to see the "Manage Attachments" button.

To be honest Mike...it was a bit ordinery...even just a little bit of bubble wrap would have been enough...you can get envelopes that have been bubble wrap lined.

I was surprised mine turned up ok.

Thanks Mike,

I think it was just over 100 k. Here's a slightly smaller version. Hope it works...
