This is the first colour image from my new home which has fairly dark skies.

Using an AP140 with the AP special corrector reducer that gives F5.7 with a huge corrected circle. Its like a super Tak FSQ. The AP scope is a joy to work with and its mechanicals are just the best.

I imaged this about a week and a half ago.

AP140, AP155TCC, F5.7, FLI Proline 16803 at -35C. Baader LRGB filters.

Greg,

I can't believe the star field. It is enormous. Beautiful.

That's real nice. You must have a fair bit of data to consolidate in a mosaic with all the shots you've done in this area, each one more beautiful than the other. Can't wait to see more.

These wider field of view images capture that aspect quite well.
There are some lovely subtle colour shades in this area too.

I've actually taken an image using both scopes of the same object and they were very comparable. I think what you are looking at here is more the image scale. But having said that - as you know AP glass is at the top of the scale. I understand why AP has that certain mystique - its rightly earned.

I do have a lot of data in this area don't I. Yes a mosaic is in the cards at some point. When I receive the adapter for the FSQ with its reducer which makes it super wide field.

The star field, colour variations and framing are fantastic.
Lovely image.

Always know the stars are good when my daughter says "look at all the Diamonds!"

Thanks Richard. The combo of top scope, camera and good filters (although I sometimes get a bit of not so good reflection in the green filter with these Baaders) helps. This 155TCC (reducer/corrector) is a piece of optical genius and creates a fabulous FOV with fairly large aperture (140mm).

Thanks for that. I have been planning to use the AP scope more and more. Its way too awesome a scope to be left in its case month after month.

Greg.
