Hi all.

Here's the latest pic of my imaging setup, taken last night while waiting for it to get dark.

I put a 60cm square concrete stepping stone on the grass as my observatory setup :) I haven't dug it in and levelled it properly yet, but once I do, i'll be putting some marks on it for where to place the EQ platform so that it's virtually perfectly aligned every time.

From that position I get a good east and north view for imaging the planets, but unfortunately I only get about 3 degrees of West sky in-between the trees.. I get an opportunity of about 30 minutes to image Venus at the moment, once it drops to around 20 degrees altitude :)

I get nothing to the South from there though, so I'll need to move my scope 5-10m further north to be able to view the South over the palm trees and neighbours roof.

Unfortunately the seeing was shocking again last night, so no planetary images to show for it, though I got some nice shots of the moon and venus together through the 350D. Will post them shortly.

Good idea with the stepping stone, that will certainly make life a bit easier for you!

Hi Mike

Just a thought? Will the concrete slab accumulate heat during the day and then slowly release it at night time, creating localised poor seeing?

Cheers

Hey Mike, I like that table!

Seeing as Mike has shared his set-up with us I thought I would show you mine as well. It is all ready to go for tonight (except to hook up the cables and wack in the Toucam).

No concrete block yet, lot's of grass for Horses & Sheep, Plenty of sky (except for that 1 tree) with 355 degree view, and no cloud, lots of DARK, no nice garden yet, but plenty of enthusiasm! Enjoy.

Pretty ordinary to me! It's all I got. I don't own an outside table so I am using the Air Cooler until I make/buy one.

Thanks guys.

Dennis i'm not sure about that, I guess it's possible but hopefully with the front of the tube being further forward, it won't create any issues. Had a very hot day yesterday, and the concrete was cool by early evening already.

Dave, I don't know what you're talking about. Mine is square, yours is round :P
