Canon IXUS 80 Moon AFOCAL images

Hello Here are some images of the Moon taken over the last 4 weeks. Canon IXUS80 point and shoot Afocal to 80mm Chineese rerfractor. I used a digiscope clamp I bought off Andrews Communications to Clamp the Camera to the Eyepiece.. Processing done to get some detail out of the images. Tony

Hi Tony

Nice work, you've got some lovely detail in those images.

I took one of them and processed it with Topaz Adjust and Topaz Detail in Photoshop CS4 and it revealed a little more of the data.

Oh, I also rotated in CCW by 90 deg.

The top section appears to be sharper which might indicate the camera was not quite square?

Well done. It is amazing what you can achieve even with the most basic of gear. The're better than my first attempts of the Moon. Well Done!:thumbsup:

Well done tony,
The IXUS 80 has done very well.
I have only ever used a Canon IXUS 70 for all my Moon images.
I also have he eyepiece clapm adaptor that work well.
You have some great results there.

Hello Steve Massey is having a Vixen Sale I purchased this R130Sf for $199.00 OTA. Rings eyepieces Finder scope etc.I set it up last night and Shot some Moon images .I used Canon 350D Prime focus and canon IXUS80 AFOCAL.It has screw on Adapters you put in to get backfocus with Eye pieces. You remove the Adapter and your T ring screws onto the thread with SLR canon and you have the right amount of Back focus to use the EOS camera.I use a Universal Digiscoping Adapter 28-45mm to Clamp the IXUS80 point and shoot camera to the eyepiece. ...Tony

:thumbsup: Hello I added these Images of Copernicus and Clavious the were imaged with Canon IXUS80 Afocal to Achromatic 80mm F/11 Refractor with 5mm Taka Eyepiece I swapped for a 7.5mm Taka for awider field But I am pretty sure these were with the 5mm . Tony

here is one I took a good while back with my IXUS 70 using Afocal method.

I found my results getting better the more I experimented with the equipment I have.

Keep going mate, its great fun, and you'll end up with hundreds of ijages of the Moon like I do....( I need another computer now... )
