G'day all,

Here's a pic I snapped on the way home last night, as the sun was setting after the storms which swept over Perth. Absolutely spectacular sunset.

Beautiful shot Roger. Perfect spot to catch the whole sunset. Been a long time since I have been on that road.

It was a strange storm, quite violent with enormous hail stones, watching the new last night a video of a motorcyclist ducking for cover under a footbridge on the freeway.

Our backyard lighting effect was so orange :eyepop:, I was tempted and should have photographed from the inside of the house.

Beautiful colours captured there
I saw the aftermath of that storm on the online news and looked like a doosy :eyepop:

Beautiful picture! I'm heading west in May for a conference, and was shocked to hear about the storm! Hope no-one was hurt. Hope the skies clear for all who look up. Regards from Tassie!

Yep, that's pretty much the type of sunset I live for.

Stunning photo...one of the nicer ones I've seen taken of Perth.

Allow me to take a stab at where you took that picture from. I'd say that was taken on Mundaring Weir rd, about 200m before the right-hander (Hummerston Rd junction)...about 1.3km up the climb from Piesse Brook.

From where you stood, the big wooden National Forest signs should be in the treeline up ahead and to your right (east), across the rocky area and up into the treeline, there should be a little tree-house (as weird as it sounds).

I reckon you stood at the bottom of the exposed road section on the attached aerial pic...facing North.

Geez, nice place to live mate...I went to a Ray White home-open on Weir Rd (Kal hill side of the creek about 200m up from the creek) on Sunday. The house overlooks the valley in the left of your photo and the one towards Perth Observatory. Very Perdy. Hmmmm

:) Yeah, nice part of the world. Grew up just around the corner, don't live there now but not far. Was visiting my family last night. I know the house you mean - it's been on the market a couple of times recently, first as an auction. The problem with that house is it's architect designed to the point of impracticaility. I feel sorry for the people trying to sell it, but, they built it so  It does have stunning views.

Thanks :)

Yeah, me too. I was really pissed off yesterday that I was in the dungeon that I work in and not out photographing more of the storm. At least I got the sunset :)

Thanks :) I've been surprised to not hear of injuries from the hail - but haven't, so hopefully everyone dodged it.

Thanks:)

Thanks mike :) One of the strongest storms I've seen :)

Not sure if you've seen inside, but lots of the wood came from the olf Busselton Jetty, so its worn in a particular fashion.

It does have one thing in its favor...you can build above the second bedroom/garage...that would offer an amazing view of the valley's dog-leg. 200k and it's more than an outstanding house.

A driveway from hell tho! How on earth you could get a removalist truck in there is beyond me. And you'd need a quadbike for wheelie bins.

Cheers
Mark
