Most of Our Universe is Missing

7.30pm – 8.30pm SBS TWO
Tuesday 23 March 2010

There was a time, not so long ago, when science seemed to understand how the universe worked. But recently things have started to unravel. According to this documentary, there is, it seems, a lot more to the universe than meets the eye. We visit the world's most powerful telescopes, fly through outer space, tour a virtual 'dark universe' and travel to the Earth's deepest mines to try to find the missing majority of our universe.

Hi Glen, :)
That sounds like something I would really like to see. Thanks for the info. I rarely look at what's on SBS 2. Perhaps I should check more often.;)

Although we have sunshine I don't think we'll have a clear night. Chance of thunderstorm forecast. A good night to develope square eyes.

Cheers Marty

Thanks Glen - some interesting characters in that show. It's been years since I've looked at a TV guide and without such announcements I'd miss all of these astro-shows.

I'd like to see a sub forum for announcing up-coming astronomy shows. I probably miss most of them.

SBS every Tuesday night at 7.30pm - they are doing a bit of a run on astronomy related topics!

I love the fact that we know very liitle of the visible universe - dark matter and dark energy are the dominant 'glue' of the universe and we know nothing about them.

Keep your eye on the astronomy events forum, the one below general chat, a lot of people post heads up for TV shows etc.

Hey....someone move me! The thread was moved here while I wasn't looking....

The narrator's "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" tone certainly suited the subject well.
Weird stuff.

I liked the show as did my eldest son. The humor of the show really helped keep interest going.

I have seen the Missing Universe doco before, a year or so ago, so a lot of it was familiar. It is a bit old though as they have since found even more evidence for Dark Matter and Energy, but no evidence, AFAIK, to support variable gravity.
