Crescent moon or Full moon on 3 Dec 2005 ?

I thought I'd grab some images of the crescent moon tonight before it set behind some trees.
I was amazed to find the amount of earthshine in the images.

The last image was an artistic version of Venus.

Details for moon: Canon 400mm f/5.6 at 800 ISO aprox 1 sec.
Details for Venus was taken at f/7.1

Thanks guys,

I was practicing for tonight's close encounter with Venus.
As you can see Venus is so bright that it looks unatural in this shot due to the lens iris/aperture (name?).
Any advice guys?

I'm hoping to have a go again tonight.
