RE-Purchasing a new lens.

Hi

Just wondering if any other IIS members have purchased equipment of

a place on the Gold Coast called 'imaging world' formerly 'Gold Coast Store'.?

I may be purchasing a new lens shortly,and I went looking around on the net,and this 'imaging world' popped up with a better price than the rest of the other sites.

There was a phone number,a Gold Coast one,and some one answered,and new about photo stuff,They only do the transaction over the internet,apparently i can't pay over the phone.

Thought I'd ask others if they knew anything on this outlet,and if they got what they paid for.

If it comes to purchasing,I will buy from either DDP at Bowen Hills or

Cameras Direct on Gold Coast,

These forums are very helpfull it getting the right advice,and can help with issues when people are'nt sure on some details.

There was another Gold Coast On-line store which went off-line last year, maybe he's starting up again?

FWIW the Brisbane Camera Group highly recommends Cameras Direct, which is a long established On-line store primarily selling DSLR Canon and Nikon gear. They are very good to deal with and most helpful on the phone and for after sales.

One daylight candid shot at 24mm.

Two sky shots on a standard camera tripod around 10-13 secs on time delay (as I don't have a remote switch - so some movent evident). Standard NR and no editing so there are a couple of red pixels. Should be good for those pre-dawn beach shots piggy backed.

Note I'm just starting out at this dark art.

Thank you David for your pics you posted with the lens in question,impressed with all,particularly the daytime pic-nice and smooth,L quality glass even though its a FF-S.

What specs on that pic please,

Yes.when i go to get lens have decided either cameras direct or DDP,i just dont have the courage,to buy elsewhere.

FYI subject - my neice is the Bride with my grandaughter Eloise - whose silver broach you can easily read in the original image.

I quickly descovered that jumping to 15 megapixels and Digic 4, demands fast quality glass.

Also in case you don't know it, this website is IMHO the best professional review site for Canon equipment - see review of EFS 17-55mm:

You may have read whines about dust behind the front element, (no probs here, just keep it capped & in a lens bag). This lens is attached 90% on the 50D and stowed in my Lowepro bag. Note dust enters behind the zoom ring, as this lens does not have full enviro sealing as do "L" series lens. House keeping as for EPs.

FWIW the OEM front cap can be a PITA and should be replaced with a Nikon center pinch type - also works with the lens hood fitted ;)

Other high spec Canon lenses that may interest you are 70-300 f4 - 5.6 IS (soft above 250) and 70-200 f4 L non IS (heavier but great value).

Although info not all related to AP, lenses should be fine for wide field and its in line with your thread.
