My efforts from Wednesday night...had a few issues with the guiding...had to cull a few exposures...this image may have have the dark level set a bit hard..
Paul
Looks good if it wouldn't be so green :(
Is your monitor calibrated?
What camera are you using and how long were the exposures?

Thanks Martin, I did as you suggested...adjusted the monitor and the image had a green cast to it...just gave the image a quick tweak....the camera is a QHY8 and the scope is a 12" SW...mpcc ..I initial had an hour and 40 min of exposure...but I threw a few out...I stacked in Maxim....

Spiral arms should have more a blue colour
well done regardless
Paul the data is there so i suggest to start processing from the start and watch out so it doesn't get green.
Look on the internet for examples of M83 and see what colors the galaxy is.

Nice detail but your colour balance is off.
If you have Photoshop open the histogram and open it for all channels.
You will see the green channel is out of whack with the other channels.
The colour balance tool is an easy way to balance colours in photoshop.
Here the green could be backed off and the other blue and red brought up as appropriate.

Hi again, I stretch, then do a digital development in Maxim...but when I viewed the histogram in PS the envelope was way left....I must be clipping in Maxim somewhere...back to the drawing board..:P

Thanks Marc,Greg... I think I was clipping in Maxim before saving into PS...just need a bit more practice....new to this stuff...very challenging ...
Again thanks

I think most stacking programs will clip the ends of your histogram when saving a scaled bitmap so the trick is to expand the left and right before saving so you can narrow it back when you're in PS and you have the whole range to play with. I usually play with levels right at the end of the processing to increase contrast in the final. If you do it too early some processes such as sharpening, noise reduction, curves might clip your picture even further. Having an excessive dynamic range to start with gives you a bit more room to move.

Very nice image Paul, looks like you are well on the way.
I too have a lot to learn with the processing side. All the best.
