The Wasp imaged must, before it dies, catch and sting, but not kill, a spider
for the purpose of laying its eggs in the body of the spider, in order to supply its young with food when they hatch. I watched the Wasp for at least 20 minutes hauling the spider up and down the brick wall, fly screens and a door looking for a hole in which to store the body of the spider.
If the Wasp had any sense it would locate a suitable hole before catching its prey. I live in Castle Hill, Sydney and have seen the event several times before.
