Hi all, had a go at NGC 5128 last night...reasonably happy with the result....but when I processed in maxim, and I noticed a sort of diagonal dotted line in numerous places in the image....just wondering what may cause this...still struggling somewhere along this steep learning curve...but it is a lot of fun..:)

Not sure about the diagonal line, but have a look at your histogram!
On my monitor the glow of the galaxy is a bit green.
Other than that a fine image!

Firstly, it looks great!
The little dotted lines you were talking about, can you provide a crop of one of these lines at full size?
I think, from what you described, that its probably cold pixels from the sensor. What camera are you using? I used to get them a lot with my QHY8, but a bad pixel map fixes them up no worries.

Thanks Darren, Alex, I'm using a QHY8...on a 12" Black Diamond reflector ....and I used about 15 exposures with varying times for a total around 40minutes....I have attached that crop for you Alex....you are probably correct in what you say about the pixels..

Very nice details Paul. Yeah these are trailing hot pixels. You can easily get rid of those with data rejection algorithms during the stacking process.

Nice image Paul.

Thanks Marc, Lester....I'll have to look into this data rejection algorithm...would it be in the form of a plug-in for Maxim??
