Seeing is very good tonight.
A few results in the bag.
This one is not my my best Eta Car result with the
DSI II but my best for quite a while.
Resampled up 2x, processed , then back down
75%.
Several iterations of sharpening survive when the data
is this good. Gotta love these slow moving Highs :)

Nice going Steve. Guiding looks superb and detail is really good. Fickle finger is there too.

Great detail and crystal clear!

Thanks Paul and Dr Paul :)

Only guiding Paul was handpad corrections
occasionally.
Seeing has dropped off a bit, I hope you did better up the
hill mate :)

I was eyeballing this region tonight as well.
You've done a spicko job on it Steve.

Thanks Jeanette,

I used the MPCC and QHY-8 on it a bit later but it hasn't
gone as well as this one.

Nice job Steve. I was wondering if you were persevering with the cooled DSI. Did you get the Jaycar temperature controller to work or have you found another solution?

:eyepop: That's a beauty. The details are very nice.

Thanks Marc and Peter,

Peter, nothing has changed since the last update on the DSI II
cooled thread. I'm still using the Jaycar kit and just set the
setpoint to a temp I know will hover above dew point safely.
Hysteresis is about 1 degree but it's been no real problem
in the dark frames. There are no dark holes or hot pixels left
after the pre-processing so that must mean it's tolerable.
10°C is a good place to start on these 27-30 nights and is
easily reached and maintained by the 40mm pelt and Kit.
Given time I was going to add a meaningful temp readout by
feeding the setpoint voltage into a comparator so it read out
degrees directly. In the meantime I have the almost live readout
in Nebulosity and as a comparison, the DMM probe reading live from
the cold finger.
It works, it's rough, but does the job.:)

Hi Stave. Nice work. Could you please post details of the Jaycar kit you mentioned.
Peter.

post #11 in this thread, Peter4059 kindly writes up some details.
I went and got one and added it to my modifications.
Works a treat, all credit to Peter:thumbsup:

Nice work Steve! I was just looking through the pics in that thread you linked, your ATM work amazes me... The CFW, motor focus etc are all beautifully done, but the mount... :) Thats something else mate.. :)

Ahhh Alex...maaate...you sound like you want something built again?:)

Not just yet mate.. But I've spent some time today looking at ATM GEM's and EQ Fork mounts etc... There are some pretty darn good ones kicking about.. I was looking at one from the USA earlier today, the guy is a fitter & turner by trade, He's got a home built 12" F/4 newt with a reducer/corrector setup (running at approx F/2.95) on a rather large home built GEM able to run 15min exposures all night long with great results. I don't know how he implemented autoguiding into the setup, Nor do I know how you would go about adding autoguiding to your setup, however I think if yours can run 10 sec subs, then adding autoguiding should be high on the "to-do" list...

Seeing what you do with 10~15sec subs, if you were able to guide it out to 1 ~ 5 minute subs, your setup would be a real light sucker!

Will be in touch Steve.. Projects always on the go, and I might need some mechanical know how :)

I resampled this data set using a few types of algorithms and then
followed ,as close as possible, by the stack, final sharpening and
noise reduction routine that works for me the best.
I can almost not tell any difference between these crops
of the Fickle Finger. I take this to mean most resample routines
are almost interchangeable?
More frames would smooth the detail out and allow more aggressive
sharpening, but unfortunately this set was only 75 crisp frames.

#3 would be my pick. Kinds of sticks out. :)
