Skippy sky says that this weekend for SE Queensland is going to be a wipeout cloud-wise, but I am not sure how much I trust it at the moment with the weather being so volatile. I would hate to call it off completely, and sit at home under a clear black sky.....

What are people in Brisbane up to this weekend??

I thought I'd stock up on beer, bourbon and cigarettes then watch the rain and consume the lot :D

The latest 4 day forecast (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDG00074.shtml)shows another bloody cyclone heading our way next week

This weekend I'll be having one eye on the weather and the other watching season 5 of Red Dwarf.

I think I'll be catching up on sleep credits in anticipation of fine weather in the months ahead! :prey2:

Don't be looking out the window now - it has cleared up...

Is this just teasing me, after I'd decided to write tonight off (especially after waking up at 4:30am this morning)

And for sure tomorrow night will be a disaster...

Note to self: Need to get a hobby with more controllable variables!

I'm just contemplating the situation now David.
If I set up, it's going to cloud over for sure, If I don't, it will stay clear.

Where are you people looking? It's raining here as per normal.

The only cloud here is to the east, and it's heading north.
But I'm not going to let clear skies suck me into setting up. Tired of being clouded out the minute my drift align is completed.

Ahhh, back to normal - almost completely clouded over, and I think there's rain visible in the distance.

Time to fire up the DVD player and settle in with an alcoholic beverage for the evening.

Murphy's Law states next weekend will be clear for everyone at Ron's place - we have tickets to a show Saturday night.

By the look of BOM Radar - the rain should be with you in an hour or so

well - it seems that brisbanites are at a loose end this weekend....

I have just ordered a wireless xbox controller that I am going to have a go at getting to work with EQMOD....appreciating greatly the recent post on stellarium / EQMOD etc

The alcoholic beverage is a great idea - mine just working its way through the system now...

What are you people talking about(laughs) I have just been out viewing Mars for the last hour, clear here on Blackbutt range, bit chilly with that wind, only came in side to get port:lol:,and see heavens above

I might have a NEW MOON NIGHT here,on the 15th of MAY,if anyone is

interested,(its about the time of my birthday).

If anyone is interested,i'd put on a camp oven roast.I will advertise in another thread soon, thought i'd ask-while on this one to see if any interest,I notice everyone usually goes to Astro Ron's,and no one may interested in coming a bit futher away from Brissy

OK,cheers,back to o bserving:lol:

So what time did it cloud over Chris - please tell me it clouded over. I don't know what I'll do if it didn't cloud over. I haven't had an astro-fix for weeks, months even. Even if you have to lie to me, tell me it clouded over.

Please...

Chris...

Are you listening to me???

Tonight's ok for visual, plenty of sucker holes. No good for imaging though. Too windy.
I'm glad I didn't set up.

I agree, the weather in Brissy has been horrid for too long now. Time to go for a really long walk, find me a light post, stick a pic of an amazing nebula on it, bathe it in light of candles, fluro torches and a contained flame if need be, point the scope at it, be satisfied i got me a target this weekend, if i fail to view, i will at least know i tried for a target, then go back inside and head straight to the fridge and drink a really large consumption of wine, just to forget what i just did. Telescope withdrawl symptoms...? I think so! Especially being new to this hobby, it's frustrating.

YEP,David-clouds strated rolling in from Brisbane direction around 9.25 pm

I did a 'fix',seeing was poor-but did see Saturn, ans some of its moons,at least 4,which was'nt bad considering the seeing,i will check my 'starry night" to see which ones they were, there may have been five.

Had a qiuck look at 3532,Eta and finished off with M 66 and M67.

So had a little 'fix',very little astronomy here in S.E QLD so far this year due to monsoonal weather, hopefully the weather will improve in next few months

Those interested in NEW MOON Night on 15th May,are welcome for the weekend.

cheers Chris

A Great Big Welcome to Suzy :welcome:

Yes, the withdrawal symptoms are worse when you're just beginning in this hobby.

If it makes you feel any better the weather has been pretty poor down here in the Sydney area.

Stick with it and maintain the enthusiasm.

Great to have you on board.
