Hi Guys,

with this first post I want to introduce my self. I´m Robert and member of the Allgäuer Volkssternwarte Ottobeuren (http://www.avso.de). I´m 33 years old, married and interested in astronomy since 1999.
I´m doing astrophotography since two years. So I would say I´m still a beginner.

Last sunday I was finally able to get lights from the Orionregion with M42 and B33.
I took a modified Canon 20D. Exposertimes were 3x10min, 5x6min, 3x3min and 1x60s. Processed with fitswork and Photoshop.

I did it with the Canon 70-200 4.0 L USM at 135mm with f5.6.

I hope you like it and please don´t be shy to give me your comments, critics and proposals.

During the shoot I took my own 40d and made a singleframed shot with the observatory and Orion getting down behind it.
So I made a collage with all the images of the orion region I ever took:

Hope you enjoy this as well.

All pics are in higher resolution on my website (http://www.robert-blasius.de/galerie/deepsky) marked with "neu".

many greetings and always the right light,
Robert

Duncan, Rich, David

many thanks for your warm welcome and thanks for the kudos.
As you might have seen, I have already a few images posted on my website.
So I would say I am not completly unexperienced, but still novice who is getting better. ;)

David,
i tried to make a compromise between most detailed and pretty picture.
I saw when I try more the noise is getting to much.

But I would love to see when you want to try it. I can give you the stacked and crude image as 16bit-tif.
Theres only one deal: You have to explain me what you have done. Thats for me to improve my skills in the image processing.

Again, thank you all.

Thanks Mike! :)

I will make a second collage where I will keep the orientation of the zoomed images.
I don´t know if it will work, but it´s worth to try.
I heard from several draughtsmen, this skipping orientation collage broke their hearts. :D

Many greetings,
Robert
